Ardooie (Belgium) - The German sprinter star André Greipel (Rostock) continues his stamp on the Eneco tour through Belgium and the Netherlands. On the second stage over 173.7 km from Aalter to Ardooie, the 29-year-old was again too fast for his rivals and celebrated the second victory of the day in a row. The Omega Pharma Lotto professional prevailed in the final sprint ahead of American Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Cervélo) and Norwegian Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky).
Sixth-placed American Taylor Phinney (BMC Racing) took the lead in the overall standings, three seconds ahead of Boasson Hagen. Greipel, who had also won two stages last year at the former Benelux Tour, advanced with his eighth win of the season a further seven seconds back from 16th to fifth place.
