Daegu - The self-proclaimed gold candidate Malte Mohr (Munich) has reached the final on Monday (12:25 CEST) at the World Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea, as the only German pole vaulter. Mohr qualified with 5.65 meters. Eliminated, however, are Raphael Holzdeppe (Zweibrücken) and Karsten Dilla (Uerdingen / Dormagen). Holzdeppe jumped as the Polish world best year Pawel Wojciechowski 5.50 meters, but managed this only in the second attempt. Dilla only took his starting height of 5.35 meters.
Defending champion and Olympic champion Steven Hooker of Australia ripped 5.50 meters three times and dropped out of the competition without height. With him also the Olympics Yevgeny Lukyanenko (Russia) and the Olympic third Denys Yurchenko (Ukraine) fail.
